FORGE® NxT addressing heat treatment processes
Heat treatments are applied to forged components in order to improve final in-use properties. FORGE® NxT embeds heat treatment capabilities to address multiple heat treatment processes: austenitization common to most heat treatments, water or oil quenching including descente into the bath when applicable, spray quenching, induction hardening, carburizing, nitriding, tempering. The heat treatment process chain can be simulated so as to obtain the final in-use properties. As an example, carburizing with subsequent quenching and tempering operation can be calculated, induction hardening followed by tempering. FORGE® NxT provides the prediction of:

  • Distortion after quenching,
  • Hardness, including hardness at the end of heat treatment workflow,
  • Residual stresses,
  • Metallurgic phases,
  • Process parameters like quenching time to obtain optimal in-use properties.
